Plaction = Plastic + Traction
Plaction Wheels are constructed of 2 black polycarbonate plastic halves, fastened together with six #10 screws and nylock nuts. Bolts are loosened in order to insert a tread, and then re-tightened to lock the tread in place.
The bore on these wheels can accept 1.125" od
ball bearings, AndyMark
Hubs or
sprockets for "live" or "dead" axle propulsion.
Roughtop or Wedgetop conveyor belt material are used as replaceable treads on these wheels. For best use, install
rivets into each end of the tread to insure the tread stays put under heavy usage.
To install a sprocket or hub onto a Plaction wheel, use
10-32 x 1.75" socket head screw (qty. 3 or 6), and
10-32 nylock nuts.
To use one sprocket on each side of a Plaction wheel (2 sprockets total) use
10-32 x 2.5" screws (3 or 6) and
10-32 nylock nuts.
These wheels have a hub that is 2.5 inches in diameter. Therefore, 22 tooth sprockets (35 series) and 32 tooth sprockets (25 series) are too small to allow the chain to wrap around this hub.
