The design intent of this gearbox is twofold:
1. It provides a simple, single-stage reduction.
2. Multiple gearboxes can be stacked together and assembled with longer screws, creating a much higher reduction.
Mounting holes are present so a small CIM motor can be mounted as an input device. A 14 tooth CIM Gear (and hardware) would need to be purchased additionally to make this work. Simply remove the 3/8" input shaft, 14 tooth gear with 3/8" bore, and the 2 bearings on the input shaft before inserting the motor and the 14 tooth CIM gear.
When stacked together, 2 #10 washers are needed to space the gearboxes slightly apart so that the shaft ends do not contact each other.
If you are stacking 2 of these gearboxes together, use 4 - #10 (or M5) screws that are 2.5" long. If you are stacking 3 gearboxes, then use 4 screws that are 3.5" long.
